How to Wear Blue

Without doubt the year of 2013 is the year of blue – a true comeback in men’s fashion, blue will be a statement colour. The phrase “blue is the new black” is going to circulate until the end of the year.

Some shades of blue are rather pale, other are bold and vibrant, and there are those that have “trendy” written all over them. Most men can wear blue clothes without a problem – but the right tone of blue is important. Spring is the perfect time of the year to put a strong emphasis on colour and embrace the vibrant essence of the timeless blue colour. Blue is not only a timeless colour, it is an extremely versatile one – you can morph it into a serious office look or transform it into a more casual outfit.

Invest in blue staples - a knitted cardigan, a polo shirt or fitted trousers. These pieces of wear will remain in your wardrobe for years to come. Match blue with brown, orange, red, black, yellow, white, grey. There are many complimentary colours, because there are many shades of blue – each with its own presence and feel. Blue and grey and blue and black are combinations appropriate for the office, where it is best to avoid bright colour splashes. One of the most power-looking suits you can get is in cobalt, navy, midnight or royal blue. It’s a true statement, especially when paired with the right shirt and tie.

You could also mix and match blue with prints and stripes. If you plan to wear blue as outerwear, pick a navy bomber jacket or a royal blue blazer. These two pieces will never fail you.

Review: I love blue, but sometimes it looks too profesional. Other times it's almost pretentious. Nice advice, I will use it.
